Case Study Houses – Part 1

You don’t need to be an architect to understand why this project is such a reference in modern and contemporary architecture.

In the post-World War II context, Arts and Architecture magazine challenged some of the most relevant North American architects of the moment, such as Eero Saarinen, Richard Neutra, Charles and Ray Eames, to conceive cheap, efficient and functional housing for soldiers and middle class citizens.

In fact, the style and the location of the Case Study Houses soon became identifiable with the high living society of Beverly Hills and other very fancy residential areas.

Nowadays some of the CSH are still existant and provide luxury housing for families, other belong to conservation associations, some were demolished, and others were projected but were never built….

Delight yourself with some of these pieces of real estate wonder.

Most of the black and white pictures, were taken by the notorious Julius Shulman.

The Case Study House program. What a treat…
