Driving in the 80s with Steely Dan

As you already may know, at Light & Shade we value the Good Life.

And what is the Good Life without a proper soundtrack?

With that in mind, and because we love to place images in your imagination, we came up with a proper “driving across town” soundtrack. Not any soundtrack of course…

“The setting is 80’s Miami, you’re a Miami PD detective and you’ve just busted one of the major blow deals in the city’s history. You feel you deserve to relax, have a drink and enjoy a good time. You remember Val, the top model you met at the beach the other day with your friends and that she invited you to a beach house party at a place owned by a retired big disco music producer called Rico.

You drive Val to the party in your Porsche 944, silver with burgundy interiors, park outside and get into the Mansion. Typical Miami… superficial beautiful people enjoying themselves to music, cocktails and probably cocaine supplied by the same drug lord who has lost a few millions because of the bust you made today…. You’re fine with it, you just want to get lose yourself in all the bustle.

The hour goes long, Val is lost between dancing with you and talking gossip with all the fashion industry clowns, you’re tired of smiling at people you don’t care about and trying to laugh with their dumb sense of humor.. hell.. you even realize keeping this going with Val would probably become tedious.. You finish your last drink you put out your last cigarette and it’s time to go.

You leave without a proper goodbye, get in your car and drift out of there. You’re driving down the boulevard, the neon lights getting mixed with the dark of the night. You decide you will ride until the first rays of sun show-up and then stop by the sea and enjoy a cold one”

You hit the play button and the Steely Dan playlist kicks in…”
